Greater Houston Golden Retriever Club

The Greater Houston Golden Retriever Club welcomes new members with an interest in the Golden Retriever breed and American Kennel Club events in which Golden Retrievers compete.  The purpose of our club, as defined in our By-Laws, is to encourage responsible breeding of purebred Golden Retrievers, to promote the AKC Breed Standard for the Golden Retriever, to hold AKC sanctioned and licensed shows and trials, and to encourage sportsmanlike conduct at such events.   We are licensed by AKC to hold conformation shows, obedience trials, agility trials, and hunt tests.  We are a member club of the Golden Retriever Club of America, and as such, GHGRC members are expected to uphold and adhere to the GRCA Code of Ethics.

GHGRC offers three types of membership:

ACTIVE membership is open to individuals 18 years of age or older, who are in good standing with the AKC and the GRCA.   Active members have full voting rights in the Club.   Active members must attend at least two Club meetings and volunteer for at least one club activity in a calendar year in order to renew as Active status in the next year.

ASSOCIATE membership is open any individual who supports the purpose of the Club.   Associate members do not have voting rights and may not hold office in the Club, but are welcome at all Club events and activities.  Associate membership is appropriate for those individuals who are unable to attend Club meetings or volunteer on a regular basis, but wish to join and support the Club and its goals.

JUNIOR membership is open to individuals 10 to 17 years of age.  Junior members do not have voting rights and may not hold office in the Club, but are welcome at all Club events and activities.
